Measuring device for the lung function of dolphins

We have developed CetaSpiro to measure the lung function of dolphins for the medical care of dolphins and various research programmes.
Dolphins and whales (cetaceans) can exhale at an astonishing rate: a large dolphin can force air through its blowhole at 200 litres per second. In comparison, humans have an exhalation rate of just 10 litres per second. A forced breath of these animals takes a fraction of a second. Extremely fast and dynamic sensors are therefore required for the measurement.
- With CetaSpiro, animals can be categorised as healthy or sick with 89% accuracy.
- CetaSpiro is used to monitor the vital function of stranded animals.
